As I mentioned in previous post, wedding was held @ GS Tower, stunning venue may I add! Before the ceremony began, saw lot of family… I was sitting at a table with my other aunt and uncle. Distant cousins, family members would come up to my aunt first to say hello, then they would see me and I imagine their thought process went something likes… and then their qs…
1. Who is this?
2. Is he?… [My mom’s name]’s son?
3. OMG - it is - isn’t it???
4. Are you Tae Youn?
5. It’s [insert relationship to my mom or me]… Do you remember me (us)?
Unfortunately, and I still feel really bad about this, 9 out of 10 times, I didn’t recognize who the person was… They would explain to me as to how I might know them, but nothing really popped into my mind… (To be fair, it has been 15+ years since I’ve seen some of them) I tried to have as much conversation with each person that came up to say hello. Wanted to get as much info as possible, so next time I see them, (hopefully) I will remember little bit more than this time around… While I wasn’t able to recognize them, they still told me stories about me, my parents and themselves, and really made me feel welcomed. It was really nice to be able to interact with people that I had totally forgotten about past 15 years… (unintentionally for the most part) I also wanted to represent my parents well, given I was representing my family in this trip/wedding.
Ceremony itself was short and sweet. It’s much faster than US weddings… I guess due to not having a real reception after the ceremony. It went ceremony, pictures, food (really good steak and fish), pictures and then more pictures… Finish. Wasn’t able to scout the scene as much as I wanted to… x) But I did spend lot of time with family which was great…
Groom and Bride both looked really happy and great! What a couple, did I mention they are both Seoul University doctors? In my previous post, I posted a picture of them and all their friends… there were LOT of doctors there!
Anyhow, definitely a great wedding! So glad I was there, already looking forward to my other hyung’s wedding in not so distant future (I hope). Definitely want my parents there as well…
One last thing… got a haircut in Korea, and in addition to a regular cut, also got a “perm”… on the side and back only… LOL they made me sit in a chair while some machine rotated around my head for about ~15 mins LOL haha Really liked the cut though!
